The Tenacious Gas Station Attendant
Normally i like to avoid human interaction while getting gas for my car, but i needed a fine beverage for my parched throat, so i accepted the fact i was heading inside to a station in Oakland, near the High Street exit.
"How are you doing today, my friend?"
"Good"
"Will there be anything else, my friend?"
"No, just this water."
"Did you know we now have hot food available? Right over there."
"Yes, i'm aware, but no thanks."
"Did you have gas today, sir?"
"Yes, but i paid for it at the pump."
"Which pump, my friend?"
"Uhhhh, not sure of the number, the other side of #4. I'm the black Civic."
"OK, sir. You are right. You paid at the pump"
"Yes."
"Will there be anything else sir? A lighter perhaps?"
"Heh, um, no, just the water."
"Ok, my friend, that will be $1."
"Thanks."
