I've stopped caring

While staked out in the lobby of my work building.
Guard #1: "Did you hear the Reds lost again?" (then starts laughing.)
Guard #2: "Man, I've stopped even caring about them anymore."

this conversation happened just 5 games into the new season. It was the Reds second loss.

Amazing Technicolor Raincoat

another day at the office in hayes valley had ended when i walked
outside to a chilly rainy nite. as i headed to the civic center bart,
a female/male duo approached:

"Wow! That is an amazing rain coat" said the lady.
"Hey, I was just thinking the same thing" her male companion exclaimed.
"Well then you should have told her."
"Pretty sure that's what I just did - kinda."
"Why thank you." i graciously accepted.
"Seriously. Amazing!" he reassured.

Sometimes

Today I got on the service elevator at work with my bike still wearing my helmet (safety first!). I shared the elevator with what i guess was a cleaning employee.
She asked. “You ride your bike today?”
“yep.” I said
“ Your legs ever get tired?”
“Yeah. Sometimes.”
Then it was my floor.

The Tenacious Gas Station Attendant

Normally i like to avoid human interaction while getting gas for my car, but i needed a fine beverage for my parched throat, so i accepted the fact i was heading inside to a station in Oakland, near the High Street exit.

"How are you doing today, my friend?"
"Good"

"Will there be anything else, my friend?"
"No, just this water."

"Did you know we now have hot food available? Right over there."
"Yes, i'm aware, but no thanks."

"Did you have gas today, sir?"
"Yes, but i paid for it at the pump."

"Which pump, my friend?"
"Uhhhh, not sure of the number, the other side of #4. I'm the black Civic."

"OK, sir. You are right. You paid at the pump"
"Yes."

"Will there be anything else sir? A lighter perhaps?"
"Heh, um, no, just the water."

"Ok, my friend, that will be $1."
"Thanks."

Mythic Pizza

Last night, I was coming home kind of late after DJing at The Bright River and felt some urgent hunger pangs.
So i opted for a visit to Mythic Pizza in Lower Haight.
I walked in right after a guy who was shifting his weight from one foot to the other, wearing all black and obviously unsure of what to order.
"Are you going to order?" i queried, for i was already sure of what i was going to order. I'm not complicated. i get nearly the same kind of pizza every time, pepperoni or just cheese.
"Yeah, I'm ready. I was just trying to decide, heh heh," he said.
"OK," i said impatiently, but with a vague smile, because he sort of laughed at the end of his sentence and therefore i felt the need to keep the situation somewhat light.
Then he ordered his pizza slices.
Soon, I ordered mine.
He stood there looking around, still shifting back and forth, while i looked around, noticed there was one open chair and decided to take it while i waited.
The shifting kid didn't notice i sat down until it was too late for him.
He looked at me and realized i had taken the last seat.
Too bad buddy.

Bagel Toasting

i engaged in small talk with a couple people on my floor in the
kitchen while i was waiting for my bagel to toast.
we had a good chuckle about the fact that we had to wait to toast our bagels.
that was really funny.
oh! and then i let her know when the slots opened up for her bagel.
but she already knew it was open by the time i told her.
we had quite a laugh about that too.
then i came back to my desk.
